Whilst the Dog & Duck may be in rather a suburban area, there are a few hidden gems spotted around which provide just enough walking for you and your fluffy.

Old Forest Meadows
Rating: 4 Stars

Hidden away between a few trees, opposite Emmbrook School lies the perfect spot to transport you out of the hustle and bustle of the town, to an almost mini countryside. Walking along the pathway lookout for wildlife such as butterflies, wildflowers during spring and other meadow animals. Ideal for dogs who love to run and need some good exercise.

Walking Duration: 30 mins
Starting Point: Emmbrook School
Terrain: All flat and pathed
Distance: 2 miles there and back
What’s There: A pleasant path towards Winnersh and back.

The River Loddon
Rating: 5 Stars

A little further afield from the Dog and Duck, but never-the-less still a great walk. Whilst a tributary of the River Thames, the river runs for 28 miles with history including working mills for the likes of silk, paper and flour. A delightful walk with more than enough space for a true adventure, whilst all protected by trees and meadows.

Terrain: All flat with a few uneven surfaces
Distance: 5 Miles
What’s There: Car parking, grassland meadows, woodland areas, lakes and rivers

Holt Copse & Joel Park
Rating: 4 Stars

The local nature reserve run by all volunteers is an ancient semi-natural woodland with a children’s play park too. Here there is enough exploring to be had for all dogs as the woodlands supply plenty of sniffs and adventurous trails. It is worth bearing in mind that certain areas of the park will require dogs to be kept on leads, but in most of the areas, dogs are free to roam.

Terrain: All flat and easy
Distance: 2 Miles
What’s There: Car park, children’s play area, woodlands and grass playing fields.

If you decide you’ve had enough walking for one day and need a refreshing beverage or a jolly-good heart-warming meal, pop into The Dog & Duck, with your furry friend. For friendly faces, a beer garden for sunny days and enough space for you and all your family, The Dog & Duck is the perfect place to unwind.
